Why Your Consulting Lead Magnet Doesn’t Convert

You’ve finally created your lead magnet, put it on your site, and you’re excited to sit back and let the money roll in. And… crickets. Why didn’t it work?

There are lots of reasons your lead magnet doesn’t convert, of course, which I’ll go into later, like:

  • Not knowing who it’s for (ideal client profile)
  • Creating the content for your benefit instead of the ICPs
  • Making the lead magnet hard to find or access on your site
  • Not getting your ICP to your site
  • Not providing content in a useable format (always a shame when you get a very fancy PDF that you can’t read on your phone)
  • Not helping your ICP do something before dinner

But the biggest issue is when you do all of those things correctly and then don’t follow up.

Taking action is hard, and even if your lead magnet lays out a beautiful path for your ICP to follow, chances are they will get stuck. Just sending a follow-up email probably isn’t going to cut it (but you should do that, too).

Call people who seem like good potential prospects. This is not a sales call. It’s a discussion about the subject of the lead magnet– the thing you love to discuss and that the lead wants to solve.

(It helps that Mimiran will tell you not only when someone requests a lead magnet, but when they read it, whether tomorrow, next week, next month, etc, so you have more chances to reach out at the right time.)

Here are lead magnet ideas, and how to turn Zoom or other video content into evergreen lead magnets.
